        Goodmorning my bow brothers,

I am perplexed to say the least. I have been shooting the CE Heritage 250’s at 29 7/8 inches out of my 50# Samick Journey Recurve, off the shelf with a commercial bear rug and leather side pad. Draw right around 28 3/4. I have switched to three under (don’t worry, I still shoot instinctive… out to 20 yards anyway… ;)Problem is, they are STILL showing up a bit weak, even with going down to 100 grain heads!! EVERYTHING I read says that I should be shooting that weight, and the 350’s would be too stiff. What am I doing wrong, or is there something I am missing here? I am not the Grey Archer by any means, but I shoot paper plate size groups up to 30 yards and baseball or smaller at 20 yards, so I am not horrible. I just want my arrows flying straight bareshaft. I submit to the wisdom of the group. I don’t even pretend to know everything!!

Fish — I am perplexed along with you. I shoot CE250s out of low-50s# fairly fast bows, with 450 grains up front. I also shoot off the shelf, etc. Mine are cut to 29″. I’d think you’d be well in the ballpark. Might have something to do with amount of centercut? If anything I’d guess the 250s are overspined for your draw weight and way-low point weight. Just for chuckles you might try much heavier heads to see if that helps. Others here will know more.

FISH…..I think there is something else going on beside the arrow spine.

I shoot a reflex/deflex long bow, It is 55lb @ 28 inches .My draw is 28 inches on a normal day. I use carbon express 250 arrows cut to 29 !/4 .I have a 100 grn bras insert …75 grain titanium adaptor…..300 grain TH broadhead…..25 grain alum footing for a total weight of 500 grains up front.I use 4inch feathers straight fletch on the rear and threw away the nock collar they provided which eliminated 5 grains at rear of arrow.( any weight reduction on rear is magnified on front foc.) Final arrow is 750 total weight with 32% efoc.

May be some one can shed some light on your problem aa it does not correlate with my experience. I experimented with CE. 350 that were way to stiff for my set up.

This arrow works on bows that I have from 50 to 62 lbs At least I don’t see much difference…….Did I tell you I am a poor shot so I might not notice:D:D

Fish – I also shoot the CE 250’s with close to 300gn up front. The latest bow I built I cut the shelf to center where I normally cut my shelves a bit short of center. My CE 250’s were shooting a little weak, hitting to the right. I built out the shelf with a couple layers of leather little by little until I was back in line.

Here is a pic of how I built it out…

I simply put small pieces of leather behind the larger piece.

BTW – This bow shoots 51# @ 28. I draw 28″ my arrows are cut to 29″ This bow is 58″ ntn with a nice fairly aggressive r/d.

              Hope this helps…

Thank you my friends. Yes, this seems so strange that so many folks can use these 250’s with nice heavy weight up front and still be ok. I went back out today and raised my brace height up to 8 1/4 inches and got my bareshaft to fly straight, but that is still with only 100 grains up front, and I really wanted to have at least 125 grain heads. Now, I DO think that I draw about 29 1/2 inches, with fast flight string and string jax, all which probably makes my bow shoot more like a 55# recurve rather than a 50. I must release a little weird or something too, but it isn’t affecting my accuracy or consistency, so I guess that is good. I might just go ahead and get the 350’s next time and just keep em long with extra weight up front. Just seems so weird that I was once shooting 150’s out of this bow with straight bareshaft, and over the year have changed enough to make these 250’s weak showing! Isn’t this the fun of our hobby though?!?
