I’m looking for a little advice.

Ok, I have my arrow shafts for this hunting season narrowed down to 2, the Traditional only 400 by Easton, and the Beman MFX Clasic 400. I have a 300 grn target head and a 100 grn insert in the Beman. Fly’s just where I’m lookin’. I have the same target head but 50 grn insert in the trad only, it fly’s just as well. They both come in at 698-704 grns finished weight.

I know the Beman’s are $20 more but if they are tougher than an extra $20 would be worth it.

I would like to know if anyone has had experience with them both, which one seemed to be the tougher of the two?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

It has seemed to me that most carbon arrows are fairly evenly matched when it comes to durability (except for Grizzly Sticks), so that either one would do you well. My wife shoots Beman (2 years now) and has had nothing but good things to say about them so far. She accidently smoked a rock with one a year back (out of her 50# Bear Grizzly) and split her Judo tip along the ferrule, but did not do damage to the arrow itself.

            Troy,

I really don’t think you could go wrong with either shaft. The Trad Only shafts are just relabeled Beman ICS Classics, which were simply Beman ICS Camo hunters with a wood grain finish. I’ve been shooting ICS shafts for about 11 years now and have nothing but great things to say about them.

Technically speaking, Easton now owns Beman (after many years of contracting Beman to make Easton’s all carbon shafts), but I believe most Easton carbon shafts are still manufactured at the Beman facilities. That’s why so many Easton and Beman carbon shafts have the exact same specifications – they’re the same thing with different labels. I wish I could help you with a direct comparison between the ICS and MFX shafts, but I’ve never shot the MFXs. But I’ve never heard anything but good reviews on them, so I think it would come down to which you like better. Both should do the job just fine

I’ve been shooting Beman ICS Bowhunters. They were the cheapest carbons and one of the lighter ones. They will break, but they sure do take a beating. Mostly the few that broke for me were head on into rocks. I had one snap from a slide blow that glanced off a tree into another, but that was the only one like that. I started putting the collars and nock collars on my stumpers and they hold up great. Pretty much bullet proof. dwc
