Great thread…I’ve owned a couple camps over my life…this one was my fav. It was situated right on the banks of the famous St Marys River. It had great runs of big salmon and outstanding hunting. I owned it for over 20 years. We ran a small guiding business out of it for about 10 of those years. I write about it often. It was a beautiful River Valley.

Nice! We get a few fish through, but I haven’t seen any big pods. I’ll bet that guiding thing paid the taxes, eh? Nothing like having a place to escape to. Thanks for sharing the pic. Anyone else?

T.J. took our daughter and son-in-law to elk camp in September and the kids and I couldn’t go. So we set up a tent and camped in my backyard for two nights. Here’s a picture of Teagan (3) and Tuffy the cat. Jameson was gathering our gear. It was a memorable weekend!

Nothing wrong with that camp, what a cutie! Had a lot of good times with my girls outdoors.

We purchased land in the summer of 2016. It is 6.5 acres of heaven, surrounded by 400 acres of huntable land. We were looking for a place to build a camp and be able to hunt and just get away from our town. We are on the outskirts of the “city”. The land is 20 minutes from home which is a nice escape, but a short ride back if we forget something. After purchasing the land we had it select cut of hardwood for lumber. The land had not seen a chainsaw in 40 years. The canopy was so thick, on a bright sunny day, it was shaded and cool. Problem was, there was nothing growing that deer would be able to feed on. We ended up selling the lumber and then in the fall my dad and I cut up the firewood and split it. In the spring, we went up and stacked it all, and by the end of the summer it was all sold. On June 30th, 2017, My dad and I started building my Shamp(Shed/camp). 70 hours of labor and 14 days of work and the outside was dried in. A couple weekends, here and there during the fall, and the interior was 90% finished. Unfortunately, bow season rolled around and we never got the heat installed, so we called it a good year and proceeded to hunt. We actually got more done than we had originally planned. We hunted the land during the rut, after I had already taken my firearm deer. I was basically guiding my wife. She got to see her first buck chasing a hot doe. Hopefully this year we will be able to christen the camp with its first deer. I will attach some pics.
The last pic was of Labor Day with my Family at Shamp. Doing a little shooting and barbecuing.
