Does anyone remember brace height recommendations for Red Wing Hunters 58″and 62″? When in doubt I usually start with a string that leaves the factory grooves about 1/16″ to 1/4″ from end. Does this seem about right? Thanks
Hi, I would start with a minimum brace height of about 6 inches but guess you need more like seven. Shoot a few arrows at that and see how it performs.
Alternatively drop Clay or one of the other bowmakers a line.
Actually, the Red Wing Hunter will like a brace closer to eight inches from the pivot point. It’s a fairly deflexed riser/limb setup and will work best at the 7 3/4 to 8 1/4 area. Find what suits your shooting style. The way you are going about it makes sense as a starting place. 😉
Increase brace heighth to weaken the arrow
Decrease brace heighth to strenthen
Why? Increasing moves the bending closer to middle of the dynamic spine (bending area) of the shaft to the middle
Decreasing moves it more forward, past middle
Start low, twist up to higher
