What do you all use on your bows to protect them from the elements. I’v heard of paste wax, but cannot find any in the stores. I remember paste wax as a kid, but nobody seems to know what I’m talking about. Thanks

If you are referring to a laminated bow. Waxing it doesn’t do much. I wipe mine down with a squirt of furniture polish on a rag, and then wipe dry and that’s about it. If you get a nick or a ding, you have a few options, clear nail polish or a dap of clear poly will do the trick. If you have a satin finish, I can tell you from experience, you do not want wax getting in umder the finish. I use to wax religiously but wound up having a bow refinished because of it.

I found paste wax at Lowes. They have it.
But I have to agree with Steve, for laminated bows it doesn’t help much.
I have used the gunstock wax made by the same company that makes tru-oil. Name starts with a b…. I forget. It seems to work pretty well, but after a month or 2 it’s hard to tell it’s on there.
Best thing is to have a good finish on the bow to start with…

I use Dura-Gloss liquid polish. Can be found at Auto parts stores. I use it on my laminated bows and my fishing rods. Makes them look like new. I don’t think it will help a bow with a flat finish though. For my self bows I just clean with a damp cloth and buff lightly with a cotton rag. I don’t want them to shine too much.
The Dura-Gloss seems to help all but the deepest scratches on my fiberglass bows. It also seems to clean as it shines as any dirt will show up on the rag. Just apply a very thin coat and buff with a clean cotton cloth.
