The June/July edition of TBM has an article entitled” Bow-Ready in Eight Weeks”.
It mentions circuit training as part of the total programme but does not give details of any recommended exercises. Was this an oversight or is there a part two?
If there is a follow up I fear that it will be too late for anyone interested to “get in shape” before the fall season is upon us…?

Hi Red Dwarf. The article in the Jun/Jul issue was supposed to tell our readers that Part 2 would be in the Aug/Sep issue. That issue will be online June 15 and in subscriber’s mailboxes by June 30. I agree that it cuts it a bit close as far as hunting season goes. If you have done the program for 6 or 7 weeks you are probably “close enough” for hunting.

I also posted an old article by Don Thomas about Gearing Up for Heavy Bows that might help you get started on a workout program to increase your bow weight.

After the Aug/Sep issue is on the web site, I can make this article available to those who want it right away. Just remind me 😆

There are literally hundreds of exercise programs you can google, and all will work if followed. One of the best things is to just get out in the woods; do some running, bicycling, and hills. You will gain strength and lose weight, which most of us need. Be careful gearing up for heavy bows, as the “man-thing”….read that machoism, can be disastrous to elbows and shoulders. Take your time with any program.

Also I remember from my days of lifting if you do strength training the right way you can build up muscle and lose weight.

There was an editorial mix up with this piece for which I take responsibility. There was supposed to be a Part 2, but the photos didn’t work out. My apologies to all. Amazingly, this was the first mistake I’ve made in my entire life. (Yeah, right.) Don

                  Sounds like a movie title…..”Confessions of a Bowhunter” 😉

Red Dwarf, thanks for the reminder. I have posted that article in the Download Library. Click here to access it. The file is available to all members. As Don mentioned, there are no photos to accompany the article but you might try searching the internet, dailyburn.com or exercise.about.com to find examples of these exercises.

                    Take care,

I’m holding out until Gene and Barry Wensel release their much anticipated workout program. Hopefully it’ll be available on Bluray, as none of us will want to miss out on any of the nuanced details that would surely be missed via the old and obsolete DVD format.
