Can anyone tell me what issue it was. I have always thought but have no proof that people with shorter draw length loose out on limb action and performance compared to longer draw shooter’s.
Anyone have any thoughts on this.

I know that take downs loose limb action, beacuse on td bows the limbs are shorter, gotta think about it, most td’s are all riser basically, and that puts quiet the strain of limb action, probably makes td’s quicker? Not sure about that, kinda made that up, I know for a fact that it puts more squeeze on the fingers!
As for shorter draws loosing on limb action, I think that they dont loose limb action, but they definatly/obviously loose built up energy, of course that is how traditional bows work, we transfer the built up energy from the limbs into the arrow therefore thrusting it forward, at least that is how I think it works!?

Hey Dpowers, I really think it boils down to the riser geometry and pre-load on the limbs.
Short draw guys should look for a Bow with more pre-load than worrying about the length (tip to tip).
There are several reasons for this. One is that the shorter draw has more to gain quicker in the draw cycle, which means the more pre-load, the more the limb will stack at longer draws. So what is a good riser geometry for the 25, 26, inch draw lengths would stack at 28, or 29.
Thats why the manus recommend bow lengths for draw lengths. Longer bow, generally less stack at longer draws.
Personally I think length should not be the determining factor. Geometry should changed in the Bow design for the shorter or longer draw lengths.
Generally the less angle built into the riser which usually lowers brace heighth is way to go for the short draw guy if you want maximum efficiency.
I know the shorter Bows are easier to get around in woods and out of treestands but, I prefer the longer Bows for several reasons. 62 to 66 for me at my 28 in. draw. -

If you are thinking of Fred Asbell’s article, The Case for the Short Bow it was in the Feb/Mar 08 issue. If you don’t have that issue it is available in the shopping area as a back issue or you can call Jillian at 888-828-4882 to order by phone.
