I’m back from my second backpack hunt this fall. Two of us saw 4 legal bucks. I had a fork buck walk past me, unfortunately he was up above the trail walking through the woods, so beyond me range about 38 paces. I had a spike-buck at 10 yards for 5 minutes; they’re not legal here, so I just drew and aimed a couple times for practice. Between the 3 of us we saw 12 bears, and I passed on one. To stay sharp and for some sacramental dinners we hunted chipmunks. I’m not sure how I was able to shoot a chipmunk but miss a mountain quail! Another great trip in the mountains.

How many chipmunks for a solid meal? Did you get pass throughs? You recommend single bevels for them? Really, that’s neat. A good way to spice up the camp supplies. Best, dwc
