Have shot about 30 arrows and the goldtips seem to be the best and flying very well bare shaft. so far its looking good.
I will probably fletch them with 3 5″ high back parabolic (i buy 5.5 highback and cut them off at about 5 inches). I know with high foc you dont need that much fletching but i really like seeing that big ball of color heading to my target. they really let me see where i hit even in low light. So i will probably stay with those for feathers.

Archer38 wrote: Great Idea !! Just a thought though, a number 8,32 bolt will thread into your insert. You could cut the head off one and use it to thread the two inserts together.
Might make a more solid connection than the nail.
I wish mine were threaded thru. My inserts just have a tiny hole in the bottom the same size as the nail.

Jason that looks like a clever way to repurpose some obviously much loved broadheads. It also presents a solution for folks who want to achieve efoc with specific heads of limited weight like judos.

I did something similar for my son years ago. I tapped a 8/32 tread all the way through the insert. I then got some brass rod and threaded it for 8/32 we then cut them to 2 inches and locktited them into place. We then screwed a 125 field point on the front. He then put them on my gain scale and tuned each one by filing off the end of the brass rod. when he was done he had 12 perfectly matched points. He still has about 6 of them I forget what weight he was after.

When I did that, I used just a tad of red Locktite on the threads of the screws. I bought some brass 8/32 screws and cut to length and filed to get matching weights. I don’t remember what weight I was after either.
When I was experimenting I had a couple of screws vibrate loose is why the tad bit of Locktite.
I’m still shooting some of the arrows.
I wasn’t going crazy with FOC, just wanted some. It’s been a couple of years but I think had a picture of them on here somewhere. Maybe not?
