This past winter I became the fortunate owner of a Leon Stewart Slammer Special, 62″, 46#, and love it. Seems lately I’ve been getting a noise from the bow, not always, but increasingly. I talked to Leon today and as I started describing the problem he gently interjected a suggestion. That I hold the bow vertically, then tilt it horizontally and adjust my grip to move the string away from my wrist. He said now you’ll be able to shoot without an arm guard. Dead quiet. Seems so simple and it was. All it took was going back to the man who built the bow.

If your Bowyer doesn’t seem to have the time or inclination to help you out [ no matter how famous] – find another – IMHO
A lot of great Bowyers out there now – find one that “fits your pistol” — Sorry – but it is a qoute from the “DUKE”

Thanks for the note. Yep, Leon’s a stand-up guy. He’s well respected and makes a beautiful bow. Professionally, I photograph a lot of fine art and fine crafts and have learned to recognize good work. His fade outs are seamless. The best part though is that he has been able to help me become a better shooter. One, with the Slammer Special, and two, with his ability to explain to me how to hold a bow or why a bow acts the way it does. He’s also very involved in his local club the West Caln Sportsman’s Club, near Coateville, PA. The have a shoot coming up August 28 & September 11.
