Are there any practical spine gauge plans available? Did a web search, and all I found cost more for the parts than a new one. Don’t feel I need one bad enough to spend that much. This is a simple principle, and there should be a simple solution.

Did you check out the article on this site? Make Your Own Spine Tester I hope it’s what you are looking for.

Ben, after looking at all those spine testers on the link, I went ahead and made the thin man setup out of bits sitting around. I like that it’s not another jig I have to find a place for in my garage, it’s just a couple of hooks under my bench. I just need to print out a reference cheat sheet so I don’t have to use my brain and I’m done.
Cheers mate 😀

I take it you were sitting there thinking: “Any minute now the crusty old geezer is gonna ask …”
Actually, yes. Yes I was. Then, just to keep you guessing, I waited twelve hours to post this. I also know what you’re thinking now and, yes, it’s true you won’t live forever. Eat the extra slice of bacon.

Or you can do like my “buddy” does and “I’ll just send these home with you and you can test these for me”. Bull#@*&. My good buddy, sitting on his tailgate, cigarette in hand speaks up and says “…you know they sell those things don’t ya”. Ha! Last time I was ask. Thanks good buddy!!! Other tightwad just doesn’t spine test his arrows now. :D:D

Still trying to find the time to read all of it. Like Jim’s idea, I could put it under the puter table (just hope I can get out of there after, oh well, I have my constant companion to help). :D:D
On the other hand I have a sneaking suspicion it doesn’t matter… More to come when I have time. Spring vacation is next week. Now she’s correcting my spelling.
I bought a scale to weigh things like arrows, field points, etc. When it seemed to be off, I read the directions and found out I need something EXACTLY 5 1/2 oz to calibrate it. Talk about catch 22!! I bought the dam thing so I could weigh things that are 5 1/2 oz!!!
