Dan — I’ve hunted Coues several years, killed two, and quit temporarily to protest the growing baiting problem — solved now! thanks in large part to sportsmen, mostly trad bowhunters, who wrote and complained. Anyhow, I know well what a tough hunt the Coues is, right there with pronghorn for the toughest trad bowhunt I know of. And if you’re doing it the “easy” way, over water, the Coues is much harder. You have my respect, and especially using that 20-foot bow! Great work.Dave

Thanks all. Appreciate it.
Dave,
No Couse here, although I would LOVE to hunt them sometime. I think you’re thinking AZ (Arizona). Here in AR (arKansas -my personal spelling), we only have regular white tails. And I will admit to having some planted plots around. Not tiny focused ones, but food crops all the same. But yeah, I do make everything and try to sneak up on or at least ambush as many as I can. I usually get around one a year from a stand. This is my biggest ground buck with a bow though. And so far, he’s tasty. The tenderloins were great!

Oops! I made two assumptions with just a glance. I should have looked closer. No wonder the antlers are so big! It’s still a dandy buck taken with an impressive weapon. I have hunted whitetails twice in AR and never had a shot op. Deer everywhere but during rut the big ones in particular seem to go nocturnal. But great rolling hardwoods and fun hunting, just tough.

Heh heh…Yep. Lots of deer, mostly about the size of carry on luggage. But a lot of them, fun, and tasty. One of these days I would love to try some Couse though (as well as lots of other species.) But, for now, the home turf and the occasional trip to visit folks/hunt in Kansas is about all I can swing. It’s good though.

Fantastic buck! Nice gear, too.

All it takes is time and money. 🙄
Actually, I do quite well with time overall with the relatively headache free job I have. But that time is all evenings and weekends. Not huge loose ended blocks. That’s the goal someday, but not there yet. I appreciate the offer and hope to use it someday.
