I’ve been shooting all summer with some 30 year old Easton “Autumn Orange, XX75, 2117” Shafts, fletched parabolic, and getting great arrow flight. I’ve just switched to my hunting shafts, “Easton Legacy, XX75, 2117” shafts, fletched shield style and getting crappy arrow flight. Both sets of shafts are cut identical length with identical weight. I’m pretty sure I’m not getting any feather slap. Could it be that the shafting has changed over the last 30 years? Are the new Easton shafts different in composition than the old ones?

I’ve always found aluminum shafts to be very consistent. I forget what a 2117 spines at, but you could check both of them on a spine meter and see if there is a difference. Check the nock fit and just for grins, try shooting a couple with the cock feather in.

The arrows are identical….you have another issue. 2117 means, diameter of arrow is 21/64ths of an inch, and the wall thickness is .017 (17 thousandths of an inch). No difference.
