I am not satisfied with how long my string serving is lasting. I have used the 3 dollar nylon and the 20 dollar woven stuff. The 3 dollar stuff lasts just as well…
Anybody have a serving that they really like?
I was thinking of just using some fast flight string material as the serving. Anyone done this?

So do you remove the string from the big spool and put it on a smaller serving jig size spool?
How well does it hold up? What say you?

I purchased it right on the smaller serving spool. It’s always held up well in my opinion, but I’ve not tried any of the newer stuff to have something to compare it to. Whatever it is that Steve Turay uses on his strings has held up remarkably well too. I’ve put a ton of arrows through my takedown Baraga and I haven’t had to replace the serving yet.

Still on serving, I ordered Flemish strings from 3 Rivers and although I really like the strings, (after they finished stretching) I have to wax the tag ends of the loops every time I string the bows. Has anyone ever tried serving over the tag ends (say with dental floss) to hold them in place?

The tag ends can be cut shorter if you don’t like the look. Melt them with a match.
Or, serve over the flemish twist with yarn. It serves to quiet the string a bit too. I don’t think you should serve the flemish twist with anything tight as it would inhibit the locking action of the flemish twist….
