I’m looking for a bowyer that can build me a true custom 3 pc longbow to my specifications. Price does not matter. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I wish I could help, but that’s one of the reasons I started building my own bows, I couldn’t find what I needed so I just started doing it myself…..You might consider posting a few details about what you are wanting, it may not be as difficult to find a bowyer if they had some idea…..

Unless you have extensive experience in bow physics and design, I say that designing a bow of your own is a mistake, and you’ll find few experienced bowyers willing to try it. Rather, as suggested above, post a list of what features you know you want in a bow and chances are good you’ll be flooded with suggestions for bowyers who do that sort of work. Generally, a “custom” stick bow means that you get to select trim items, woods, length, poundage, etc., to put on a standard model. It takes a huge amount of experimentation to develop a good new working design, then fashion the molds, etc. Best luck.

Another reason to stick with a proven design (unless you have $$ to spare) is custom building can get expensive. I know if I’m going to drop alot of cash on a custom I don’t want it to end up in a pile of splinters after a short time. I think you could add custom touches as long as it does not interfere with the bow physics of a proven design.
I’m with Dave, let’s hear your list of wants, there may be a bowyer out there that already makes what you want.

I agree with the above statements about bow design but you can get a bow made to fit you spicificly but you should meet with your bowyer to work out what you want. I had a bow made to fit me the way I wanted it to. I picked a bowyer that built a bow that I realy liked, met with him and told him what I was looking for and he agreed to make my bow. Now take into consideration I did not ask him to change his design just to modify his grip to suit me and meet a specific poundage give or take 2 pounds at my draw weight. I did have to meet with him twice while he was working on my bow to fit the hand grip to my hand and shape it the way I wanted it. It is now my go to bow and enjoy shooting it. With the personal fit I really have been able to improve my accuracy and I atribute that to he bowyer and his abillity to fit the bow to me.
Good luck
with what ever you decide

“Custom” means different things to different people. Custom can mean being able to specify what wood, bow length, weight, tiller and maybe handle shape you want; in which case there are a bunch of bowyers out there who would be able to accomodate your request. If you’re talking about messing with the basic design and geometry of a bow, then finding a bowyer to work with might be a bit of a challenge. It would help if you could be a little more specific about what degree of customization you’re talking about.
