I just picked up a really nice long bow over the weekend. I traded my 3-piece Bear Buckeye Hunter take down for an Appalachian Archery Middle Mountain longbow and marked as such 51#@28″ and it is 68″ long. It also is marked with 91-116 so I think this might be bow #91 out of 116 made. This is my first long bow and it has a pretty stiff draw so I think it might actually be a heavier draw. Haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet and can’t wait though! I really don’t know much about this bow other than what the gentlemen trading it told me. It was made a bowyer from W. Virginia that wasn’t able to make a going at building bows so in the mid 90’s gave it up. In my stable of bows I have my older Bear Stag Hunter 45/50# recurve and now this Appalachian Archery Middle Mountain 51#(or so it is marked) 68″ long bow.
Very nice! Nothing like a new bow. I’m no expert, but I’d be inclined to think the 91-116 is more likely the bowyers way of formatting the serial number rather than being the 91st of 116 made. Just a shot in the dark though.
Very nice D style longbow love the limb tips! Longbows always feel a little stiff at first if you have been shooting recurves, also check your brace heightI have 3 bows that length and they shoot great at about 7in! have fun!
