The weather man was calling for rain today so I resigned myself to staying indoors and relaxing with the new TBM issue. Around lunch time I noticed that the weather man was wrong (imagine that) so I braced my bow and went out to the back yard for some practice. Well, it seemed one of those practice sessions where I was afraid to shoot at the same place twice as I quickly cut two feathers. Since it was nice out, I thought “Why waste this opportunity” I mean, if I was shooting well, and the weather was favorable, why not go find some squirrels. As i walked the trail behind the house, I caught movement to my right. There, about 15 yards in the brush, were 2 ruffed grouse. I gripped the string and froze. After a couple seconds one of them stepped into a small opening. I slowly came to full draw and threaded one of my bottle cap bird points through the brush into the base of his neck. Unfotunately, the other bird flew and I never got a second shot but the first one came home with me and will make a tasty lunch tomorrow.
I never would have dreamed of doing this with my compound bow. I love this trad archery game!!!
