          Hello Dominique,

That sounds like a wonderful gift to yourself! Can you tell us when you would be planning to hunt, and which animals you would like to hunt? I think we have a few folks here from Alaska, but this isn’t a big group so it might take a while for someone to reply.

Best of luck to you. ~Robin

            Hi Dominque

Do you hunt in France ? What part ? What bow/s do you shoot? Have you hunted internationally before ? What game are you interested in hunting in Alaska?

I be curious to what is taking place with the trad archery brotherhood and bow hunting in European and other countries of the world.

I do know that at one time traditional archery was a big deal in places in Europe. Great Plains used to send quite a few bows to Europe.

Is it, hunting, as available to the populace as it is here in the states, etc?

              Ralph

Alaska has what are probably the most complex hunting regulations of any state in the U.S. The full text (all 144 pages!) is here: http://www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/applications/web/nocache/regulations/wildliferegulations/pdfs/general.pdfF74FDB2F65C807FCFCB03DF37273ACC1/general.pdf

As a nonresident alien, you must be accompanied in the field by a licensed guide for any big game hunting. Your best approach is to spend your time right now finding the guide you will want to use. Any guide worth hiring will inform you of virtually everything you need to know. You should ask other bowhunters (on every bowhunting forum you can find) for references for Alaska bowhunting guides that they have personally used. Not names they’ve heard of – names of people they have hired and used.
