Well I told you guys that I had this on film a while ago, and youtube ticked me off because it kept giving me a error message when I tried to upload it, but here it is. I really had to upload it because I was getting a ton of crap on another forum about how this shot was impossible. So I hope you fellas enjoy!

Hey Chris- 0 replies!- what’s up with that? I’m very impressed especially since you’re using low-end ammo- must be a good combo with your rig. Well, you know, the best will make a good shooter better, but a bad shooter with the very best is still bad!
Thought about the military? They will teach you and let you play with some very nice and spendy sniper weapon systems- and nowdays you get to shoot for real- Mujis at 2,430 meters anyone! Yeah, it sucks, but they started it and it’s up to us to finish it- Muhammed can go kiss my rosy-red you know what!!
You have a skill set that not many people possess- it’s up to you how hard and far you want to take it, the opportunities are there.
Best my fellow American- HalfaHun -
Some good shooting there GT!

you ever shoot CCI stinger ammo? I used to shoot a 22 a lot and really liked them. never tried anything over 150 yards though. Nice shooting.

BRUC wrote: Awesome Chris ❗ Assuming a gun is sighted in @ approximately 75 yards, how much would you have to hold over @ 300 yards. I’ll guess about 10 feet. Pretty vague guess.
Bruce.well your guess would be pretty close I think??? I dont know how far I would have to hold over, because I dont have to, I have a mil dot scope and you can adjust it up and down and side to side to meet the requirements you need. However I know that with my exact ammo and rifle, the bullet drops 159 inches at 300 yards, and has 52 foot pounds of energy, with I think 649 fps left after the origional 1255 fps at 100 yards!

never tried the CCI, the target rounds are pretty slow, usually around 1050 fps. I understand that is because if the bullet doesnt go subsonic there is not any trembling before stabilization, so they are way tighter closer in, but I really, REALLY like to go far . . . got to conteract the closeness while bowhunting somehow!!! No really I only hunt groundhogs at that distance, really kinda similar to the challenge associated with bowhunting. At 300 yards, any little breeze will blow the bullet off, so it is fun. Killed two groundhogs at 290 and 300 yards! Still trying to kill one on the first shot! Both of them were killed on the run!!! Because the first shot missed, lol

Give those CCIs a try. They’re much faster than standard LR rounds. Less lead and more powder. One down side is less lead = more drift. Don’t know if it would make that much difference though.

I bought a brick of the CCI’s and have been using them in my Henry the last few years. I concur they are fast and hit hard. Makes a mess of a squirrel if you are not careful. And puts groundhogs down fast.
I am not a long range shooter, so I don’t know what they will do out to 300 yds. But at 75 yds they work great.
My only complaint is that they tend to load poorly with the lever action. I have to be careful not to jam the gun.

Man, all this talk about 22s is making me want to shoot mine. Only problem is it’s 2500 miles away in Florida.
I still remember the day my grandfather gave it to me. I think I was about 8 at the time. Winchester pump. I love that gun. Actually, it’s the only rifle I own, other than my flintlock.

Clay, There must be a story there. Florida to Idaho, hmmmm. But on the bright side, I hear that new fangled postal service will deliver right to your door! or in the case of a gun, to your local dealer…
Sorry, for the sarcasm… I was separated from my hunting gear for a few years, when I lived in Florida, but eventually had it all brought down. I was happier to have all my crap with me, even if I couldn’t use it all.
I learned my lesson and had my gear moved with me at the next move. It was my “comfort gear”. But living in Idaho must be a true comfort. I had the pleasure of visiting Salmon once. I remember a little town that had a bar in it with a wooden statue in the front full of arrows people had shot into it while going down the street…

Clay and Steve, I hear ya, no harm and given those CCI’s a try. As far as your gun being 2500 miles away. That is tough, and a nice 22 at that, lol. Those old pumps are hard to come by, well those old pumps that can still shoot are hard to come by.

Great shooting Chris. I have not done much 22lr shooting past 200 yards. I have a couple of 100 yard squirrels to my name though. I have an old Winchester model 69 bolt action that is rather finicky. It only digests the standard WW long rifle ammo accurately. It will also fire most brands of shorts accurately. Originally, it only had iron sights but my Uncle ran a gun shop and he custom drilled and tapped it for a scope mount and I put a Bushnell 4x on it. Though it is not pretty to look at, it was my Dad’s rifle and I only have to hold it to let it take me back to the October woods of the mid 1960’s with my Dad taking me squirrel hunting before school or on Saturdays. We had many good times along the river sometimes leaving off hunting to look for old bottles in an occasional decades old dump pile. Sorry for the ramble guys but that old rifle always gets me nostalgic!
