I’ve removed many a insert by screwing in a fieldpoint and only applying heat to it. This will allow the insert to heat up by transferred heat. I’ve even held a damp rag on the carbon shaft to help prevent overheating the shaft.
Heat a little and try pulling the insert by only pulling on the fieldpoint with pliers. It often takes several times to get the right amount of heat to break down the glue.
Yes, you do stand a chance of overheating and wreaking the shaft. Still, if you take your time it can be done.
