Wow, after spending a big chunk of my spring and early summer working on form, tuning arrows, and building strength, I get wacked with the nastiest summer cold/bronchitis I’ve ever had! I feel like I’ve lost all that I worked so hard to gain. Been to depressed about it to even spend time on my favorite archery sites- seems to just make things worse.
What do you guys do when the brain says, “Shoot!” but the body says, “Go to bed, your sick old man!” I ended up spending way to much $$ online ordering bits for my motorbike (the other woman). Of course this just made things worse- can’t ride or shoot!
Ugh! Getting old sucks. I used to brush this stuff off with ease. Now, it takes three weeks and three prescriptions to get back on my feet!

Wish I could offer advice, but being only middle-middle aged I still shrug that stuff off fairly easily. Fortunately I am so clumsy that my injuries make up for my youth. Can’t win either way.

What I usually do when my body says shoot and i’m to sick to do so, is take a few days of soild rest, then I forse myself to shoot even if it’s just acouple arrows, and read tbm or go to these trad related sites! I’ll shoot everyday after, maybe shooting one more arrow than the day before<unless I feel like i'm geting sicker! You have worked hard to come as far,so at least shoot one arrow if you can each day! that first arrow is the important one anyway!!

When I can’t shoot I work on my gear. Nothing gets me in the mood like a new set of arrows or bow! Sorry to hear you’ve been down with the crud.
Sometimes it is not just our own malady but the malady of others close to us. I lost a bunch of time this spring and summer while caring for my wife after she was hospitalized with an infection. It was about 6-8 weeks before she got back to normal. You know, for better or worse….it is what you have to do. So it’s like starting over for me.
And now this insane heat has set in. Makes me not want to shoot at all.
Hope you get better soon,
Duncan
