I had another great january hunting Coues in the Santa Ritas of So. Arizona, even if I never took a shot. I saw a few of the bigger Bucks I scouted, but wasnt offered any good shots, passed on a couple of smaller bucks, heard a Bob-Cat scream one morning in the dark as I was hiking up the MT, saw a few Coatimondis, found an Indian camp with a large “nutting stone” and a possible old miners grave site…
Shared some info/GPS locations with some other Bow hunters and did 4 Wounded Warrior Bow Hunts, which was my high-light of the season, spending time in the Mountains with some amazing men (two of them tagged-out on nice Coues)sharing info on the Mountains and the wary Coues Deer, along with past tales of horror and humor from our service was hopefully healing in some way…
Just a reminder that Hunting isnt always about a dead critter…

1shot– your photos and brief stories have get me fired up to try and get back down there after missing the past couple of years. Maybe next year.
Isn’t the full version of your tag line “Another beautiful day to excel … in the Marine Corps!” Took me a while to connect, as it’s now 40 years behind me, whoah!

Good on you, for being able to recognize what makes a “good season” even if you never took a shot.
I did some WW guiding a few years back. It was definitely one of the most impactful and rewarding days of guiding I ever had. Thanks for taking the time.
