Mike, I’m just back within the hour and doing the quickest possible confuser visit. It was the biggest and best rendezvous so far–tons of stuff to tell about that I’ll leave to others. But to answer your question, they gave Clay’s film the spot of honor Sat. evening and it was a standing ovation. I wasn’t the only one reduced to tears (granted, two nights of sponging up beer may have had some bearing on the mood, but it was still spectacular and a major hit). Now back to unpacking …

Here’s the youtube link to Clay’s film. Find a quiet time and place to watch it.

Dave, this link takes me to the trailer not the full video. Help please! I want to watch this!

Darn, you’re right. My apologies. David Lien, CO BHA chapter chair, sent this out this morning along with photos from the rendezvous and since Clay was going to post the full thing on youtube I assumed this was it. My bad and I’ll post the full film link as soon as I can round it up, if Clay doesn’t beat me to it which I hope he does. Can’t say enough good about it.

An exceptional gathering and celebration of the great outdoors that God has given us. Friday night Backcountry Bash couldn’t be better with food, beer vendors, and raffles/games with a live bluegrass band setting the tone. Went a little late though, especially for us driving to and fro.

Saturday was an awesome and informative day with seminars from survival to falconry, with everything in between. My favorite was the outdoor survival seminar. I took a survival class bout 20 years ago, but it pointed out the need to survey my equipment and attitude, since you don,t get alot of practice with this.. Falconry was also very good since not so many folks deal with this.

Then to a great lunch followed by an “ethics of technology” discussion. This was a think “outside the box” discussion on some emerging technology, such as drones involved in hunting. While most people don’t think it is an imminent threat, we were reminded the texting on a cell phone wasn’t an imminent threat until folks started texting and driving and now we are going crazy trying to prevent it, so it was important for the BHA to proactively address drones before it became an issue of irresponsible and unethical use.

Followed up by a discussion on women in hunting. IT was great to see these young ladies profess their love of the outdoors and also reflect that they hold the key to our future since they have no “macho” image to uphold, with regards to what I call “killing antlers” but are more interested in the spirit of the hunt and fair chase. Followed up by some more seminars, then I had to leave due to a prior commitment (wedding), so I would also like to hear any info on the keynote address and Sen, Udall’s address.

It was a pleasure to meet folks I only knew by handles or pictures on the BHA website. And it’s was great meeting my fellow members and others that share common goals who don’t just “talk the talk” of conservation, but “walk the walk”.

I want to add that I’ve been to alot of sportsmen s banquets, but this rendezvous was the flagship of affairs with the fun, camaraderie, and learning. My wife and I both greatly enjoyed it. Kudos to the folks that set it up. I believe it was a huge success with attendance over 300

That’s fantastic news, Steve! The Rendezvous continues to grow significantly every year. I really wish I could have made the trip, but I’m sure I just would have been a bad influence. 8)

While we’re awaiting word from Clay about a link to his full film, you may want to check this out; it’s about a 10-minute video report on BHA’s first decade filled with scenery and scenes that make me itch to get back out there again.

As stated above, the rendezvous was a great success and a great time. Lots of good people to talk with and share ideas. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the film as well. The plan for the film is as follows. It will go on tour this summer, then – after the tour is done – I will upload the full film in the fall. For now, it’ll only be available on the tour, except for those that sent something to the crowd funding page (thanks Mike). I’ll burn some DVDs for those folks so they can see where their money went. When I get more info on the tour dates and schedule, I’ll let everyone know.

Thanks a bunch. Just so everyone knows, I’ve already got an idea brewing for the next film and just got a brand spankin’ new computer in the mail to start editing with.

Clay if you need postage let me know will be glad to donate, can’t wait to see it.

Haven’t seen Forager on the site for a bit –but let me know if the tour can visit W MD a very few trad folks here lots of ATV’s and well you know—but perhaps the education may help.

Let me know if I can assist. Having said that and I figure you all know this, perhaps ETAR, would be the best venue for the east? Any who standing by to assist.

But Mike, if the “feeling in my heart” is pure evil … is that still success? I can think of some, many in fact, who must believe so!

Well we have certainly hi-jacked this thread:D

My response to your raised sword my friend is to offer–that within your heart or any on this site “evil” would be difficult to find–from my experience and definition of that word.

A person must know ones self—be comfortable with that knowing. If that knowing respects all life and this earth then there can be no evil in your heart.

The thoughts of others are meaningless if this is true. If they be contrary to our basic understanding that all life is precious and that our planet is indeed our space ship–then they by definition are evil, and require us to rise up against them.

Riposte and epee back at you. Sorry could be wrong terms since it’s been some 45 years since I have had a foil in my hands:twisted:
