That’s it. Season is over for me. New Year party last night I saw 2 other bow hunters, and they didn’t get a deer either. No, they didn’t actually say they didn’t get a deer… But they didn’t say they got one either. 😕
We finally got something that passes for snow. Hard and grainy, rather than soft and fluffy. No snow angels. 🙁
Now is the time to make/buy new clothes, arrows, and bass bugs (Oops, wrong forum.) I have a Christmas bonus eating a hole in my pocket.
Anybody got any great projects planned for the new year? Any New Years resolutions (aside from getting a big buck this year..We know that).
Lets all stay happy and healthy for the next year. Only nine months before the season starts. 😀

And a Happy New Year to you, too! Have fun making choices with your bonus. I have til sundown next Saturday and then it’s back to preparing and waiting. I love that part, too.
Wishing a terrific New Year to you all. Dwc

Happy New Year to all too!!!!!!!!!!!
My season closes Sunday eve but I’m done til spring turkey. Still in longbow pursuit of one of those peckerwoods….
I imagine if I wanted to get out tomorrow or Sunday I’d have a difficult time with snow drifts and piles of tumbleweeds after I our blizzard and windstorm the other day. The mud perhaps still frozen (probably til I get in then it’d thaw and make it a bummer to get out).
Have fun spending your bonus Grumpy.:)
Since I’m retired Uncle Sam didn’t see fit for me to get a bonus this year, the last eight either for that matter. What the heck!!!!! Nuff said……
Got some feathers and nocks coming anyway for 18 woodies I have ready to go.
Hope everybody has a great year…

Boy this holiday season went by fast!
Started out the week before Xmas duck hunting, then my boy came home from school, then my sister and her family and my folks all came for a few days. Then New Years and now I have to take my boy back to school Sunday 🙁
Whew!
Deer hunting is over for me this year. Have a deer my boy shot Tuesday in the cooler along with a sheep that we put in there to keep her company. Will process them in a couple weeks.
This is Bow and Arrow making season for me now. Thinking of making some spruce arrows and a string follow bow…
Happy New Year to All!

Happy New Year everyone! I am looking forward to a great year. Steve I hope you plan to post some pics of your string follow bow when you build. I have a desire to build one as well. But first I want to build a sinew backed osage following Mike Yancy’s process from Pine Hollow Longbow.

I will…
I like Mikes work. Good looking stuff. Are you taking his class? I planted 12 oasage trees a few years back. The best of them is maybe 5 feet tall and 1 inch in diameter now… Should be ready when the grans come along 😳

Me too!! Just ordered a dozen graphite shafts, field point test kit, brass inserts, weight washers, etc… Also went to Cabala’s and bought insulated/waterproof/invisible/quiet bib pants and coat with my Christmas bonus. May not keep me warm, or help me get a deer next year, but I look pretty (men’s sizes were too big, had to get woman’s), Going to shorten the legs this afternoon.
