          Here’s mine*:

          *Human not included.

By the way, here’s the site for where I bought the hat, although mine is the Federation. The Federation IV replaced the Federation and is slightly different:

I’ll probably wear the same thing I wore last year: a blue Chicago Cubs baseball cap or a wool stocking cap, depending on the weather.

Steve, you could hunt on St. Andrews course with that one 8^). I like the plaid.

Just a ball cap of some sort for me; when it gets colder the woold stocking cap comes out…over top the ball cap. Don’t like big brim, and don’t care for camo. Just me.

Ummm, Patrick? I don’t see a link to the website you are talking about. 😆
Just keeping ya on your toes.:lol:

George, in actuality it IS one of the McDonald Clan Tartans. I had been looking for one for years! 8)

I got this Art Young hat..just like the old style look..but my string hits the brim unless I push the hat back way far on my head. I notice photo’s of Fred Bear and how far back he wore his hat. Another thing I don’t like about all the hats I get is when hunting from tree stand when I lean back the bream hits the tree. So I will probably do like I always do anywas..hunt without a hat and when the sun comes up an gets in my eyes, pull out an old cloth cap I keep waded up in my pocket.

                        Hey fellers,

First post for me, so it’s fitting that I show off my new hunting hat.

Ol’ Patrick got me on this forum since he’s been kickin’ my butt on the local range. I figured now is as good a time as any to jump in!

You must be shooting with two Patrick’s! Because this Patrick has been the one on the receiving end of the butt kicking, AND…I’m not old! 👿 😆

My hat of choice for the moment. Made of Roo leather, nice and light. Also bends with the bowstring with practically no resistance.

Plus Aussie hats are cool of course. Just need to line it with Wolf/Bear teeth and it will be perfect.

I’m a creature of habit I suppose when it comes to my hunting lid. My fav is the one in my profile pic. Also have a camo Bak-Pakker crushable wool that I like. After gun season starts I go for a reversible blaze/camo tobogan or bucket hat. Call me superstitious but I have a set of lids and they don’t change unless they are destroyed or go missing.

Steve, That plaid cap was classy though. What Tartan was that? Looks similar to MacRae Hunting. (My Clan Tartan)

I just wear a baseball cap. When I go bald then I’ll shine the top of my head.

Thanks Cotton, its a ’77 model, genuine beaver felt.

Ray, that’s a heck of a weight on that fishin’ pole.

BTW I am bald and it shines naturally, so if you don’t want deer to spot you, got to keep it covered!:D

Well I decided to go with just a Boonie Hat of plain Khaki Ripstop by Route 66 at Kmart for just $7.00 on clearance. Will be just perfect for our Bowhunting Season weather here, or any place else for that matter.

                                                        Patrick,
If I remember correctly it was sold as an Andhurst brand by Hudson Belk. The tag and liner are long gone but the head band is still intact. It does have a few moth tracks in it but no holes. I suspect Andhurst contracted with one of the big hat makers like Stetson.

                                                          Cotton,
Your mention of the Boonie made me think of my Boonies. I forgot to include those in the Lid Line up. Killed some good deer while wearing a Boonie. I used to cut an inch off of the brim and run it through the washer to fray it up and givie it a soft profile. Usually had to trim the interfacing after the wash because that stuff is always white. When I wore a big head net the stiffness of the brim kept the net off my ears, thwarting those pesky skeeters best efforts at chewing on them.
                                                          Excellent choice for a lid!

One I have now is lightweight ripstop and going strong. Keeps rain off, sun off, allows easy insertion of cedar, pine or other fragrant leaves if desired or even a HS Scent wafter and can ball up and put in pack if needed.

I am interested in maybe another type when my last two expire and go to the trash heap….have always liked some by Noggintops. I like the Broner Ventura and also the Cavanaugh Storm

It’s brown, 2-1/2″ brim that has so much string wax on the right side it’s curling up a bit. I really like it, it’s showing it’s age now & I wear it a lot when hunting with a gun too as it’s brim doesn’t interfer with most anything.
Iv’e thought about replacing it, but it’s so comfortable & feels so good I probably won’t, at least not yet.

I figured I should show you the last thing the doe saw this morning before she tripped over herself laughing and beatin’ feet outta there because I MISSED.

It actually makes a great snow camo hat, heck it’s got giant snowflakes knitted right in–had three under 20 yards, too bad I am inept, at least I look cute:)

Any other new hunting hats out there?

It’s getting pretty worn now, but every time I think about replacing it, I think of all the hunts we’ve been on together.
