The Maine Traditional Archers hold an annual shoot in July called the “Poke and Hope Rendezvous”. Great venue, four excellent 3D courses, several competition events for those so inclined, free camping, and your choice of a lobster or ham dinner available on Saturday evening. I made it back this weekend after first attending five years ago.
The venue is the Durham Rod and Gun Club:
My accommodations:
The future of archery is looked after well at this event:
A good place for a rifle shot, but a pretty bad idea for an arrow, especially with no cover for the shooter …
Here’s why I use bright fletching:
For those of you “blessed” with Boomer vision:
For all the talk of Howard Hill bows being more common than ever at this event, this (sort of) random sample says otherwise:
Just in case you forgot which month this is:
iWitness to the action (be sure to play to the very end for the outcome):
And finally, what’s for suppah? Lobstah!

Awesome! We have a local, 2-day shoot next weekend just off I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie. I can only shoot on Saturday but really looking forward to checking my progress.
One thing for sure…the will be NO lobster feed included.:shock:

Looks like fun, and looks like the sun was shining. You got lucky!
This wet cloudy weather pattern is starting to wear on me. Yesterday, the weatherman promised sun today, but now he’s saying tomorrow.
My neighbor mowed his lawn in the pouring rain 2 days ago. That was a thing to watch as I drove by trying to see the road through the downpour
Our tomato’s have sprouted roots from branches that are 3 feet off the ground. It’s like the tropics around here.

We had the same thing here since the beginning of June until last Friday. The start of this week is forecast as sunny but hot, with those #%^! showers and thunderstorms supposed to return on Thursday and Friday. But it looks like (and feels like) the pattern is finally changing.
