Got out this morning for a little 3D practice with Col. Mike and Jason (Wojo14). We had beautiful weather and a great morning of flinging arrows and having fun. Here are some pics….. Enjoy!

        The dreaded Pennsylvania wild hog!!!

It was a great time and I look forward to the next shoot!!!

Oh and baiting isn’t hunting Jason!!!!

Forgot to add that the shot of the day goes to Jason. I am sure Mike will agree that the 40 yard fallow deer double lung shot was quite awesome to witness!

Concur–Jason wins shot of the day, but I’m sure Jason will agree with me that Brennan was overall top shooter. Of the 60 targets I believe he missed the center ring less then 1/2 a dozen times.

An absolutely gorgeous day–after the arctic weather we have been having. Great time with some fine young trad archers. Our ethic is in good hands for the future.:D

Thanks for the kind remark Mike! Brennan and I will try to carry on the future of trad archery and hunting.

As for the best shooter of the day, hands down goes to Brennan! I am going to take his advise and just shoot for form during the week.

Brennan and Mike, I have to say, I had the BEST time today with you guys! I could not ask for a better pair of guys to spend a 3d shoot with! We defiantly NEED to shoot together way more often. I think we would have a BLAST stump shooting together! I will feel like I fit in better once I get my Elkheart!(Gregg, if you are reading this, I shot both of they’re Elkhearts, and I am not sure I can wait till Feb…)

Brennan, Keep in touch and Mike, see you this up coming holiday weekend!

2015 elk hunt? Food for thought…

Two guys with hair, one with a hat … in time, all three will be hatted. Looks like good shooting and good fun. Unless I worked up to it, 60 arrows at one go would likely put me out of business for a while. Brennan, I like your “Year Long Day” quote. Darn, I read that book five times already in the year since Mike sent it to me … and now, thanks to your reminder, and with the longs nights of winter here and my dogs not very conversational, a sixth read seems in order. That’s a nice looking roving range you have there.

Looks like a blast! Was this just a 3D shoot at a local range, a trad only shoot, or just a set up one of you have at your own place?

I live in Western PA and go to all of the big shoots during the summer time, but definitely miss it when the colder weather hits.

Yes, is that a club or personal woods? Very nice. Sounds like a good time. All fhe beat. Dwc

It is a private club but was open to the public for the shoot. It was trad only which was nice. Jason has more of the info on the location and the orginizers.

Dave I have to reread the “Year Long Day” as well….a great book. The quote breaks down my thoughts on life and hunting to the bare bones.

Mike and Jason thanks for the kind words on my shooting. I look forward to more shoots to come and a 2015 elk hunt….hmmmmm not a bad idea.

Jason I can’t wait to see your Elkheart when you get it (hopefully really soon) Gregg does such fine work…a true artist!

Yes, it was a club shoot open to the public. I have been shooting at this club for a year now. They also have a Thursday night indoor trad shoot with indoor 3d. Lots of fun and great people. The club is Strictly Sticks Traditional Archery Club. I attached a link Below for the winter 3d schedule and directions. The club is in Westmorland County near Mt. Pleasant.

Looks like a blast, and a good reason to tag along with my wife next time she travels to U. Penn. I realize Philly ain’t that close, but heck, a 4-5-hr. drive is nothing where I live. And you don’t even have snow on the ground!

Smith, that’s crazy, but it reminds me of my cousin, a truck driver. One time he told me he was tired and decided he needed to pull over and get some much needed sleep. The stop was noisy with other trucks idling, so he just drove another four hours to a quieter place. That little extra four hour rin would’ve put me under! Dwc

Jason and I got out again Sunday for another shoot. It was a another good time.

Here is a good pic of Jason’s arrow in flight.

Sorry I missed it. Looks like you had another great shoot. Nice to see Jason isn’t shooting those baited pigs again:D
