Get yourself one of those “BowFit” exercise kits. Certainly go a long ways in keeping your muscles, muscle memory and form in shape.

My college had the same prohibitions.

I broke the rules and kept my .22 squirrel rifle and my bow in my dorm room. Of course this was back in the ’80’s before everybody got so uptight. Wouldn’t recommend that today.

But you could store the bow somewhere. Either on campus or off. Then on the weekends at least you could practice somewhere.

I used to take my bow/target out to an abandoned store near campus that had a big lot behind it. Set up and shoot a bunch. Usually a friend or two would come along, and before it was over there were several new folks getting introduced to the joy of archery.

I have a “Bow fit” and I think it is helpful. As Steve McD says it would at least allow you to maintain some strength & technique.

It’s Amazing how colleges have changed in 40 yrs. I went to UNM [ most Rocky Mtn colleges I applied to had this provision for hunting]It allowed Firearms kept in a safe in a store room of each dorm [not that we always adhered to that rule]. we were allowed bows in our rooms and did. {my roomate and I both had Shultz longbows}UNM also had [ no longer ] an archery range on campus – old style field archery tgts. There WAS a bowhunting class for elective credit.

PS – if there is a bow shop around – you could try and get a part time job and maybe some free range use?

Get a few folks together and start an archery club. I bet most colleges would allow that. It used to be part of the PE curriculum.

Does your school have archery as a course? I’ve known several students who took archery as a filler course once other credit requirements had been met. If so, they might need some help and might welcome someone who has some experience. Also look for local archery clubs, they might give a student a break on fees.

Where I am, the local wildlife club has 100 field targets and a 28 target 3d course. Non-members can use it on weekends for a very modest fee and they have loaner bows of all types and wts. Maybe there is something like this near you, you just have not found it yet.

Switch schools. My son just graduated from UW at Stevens Point they have a meat pole on campus to hang and process your deer. They also have a dedicated kitchen in one of the dorm buildings for game processing. They have a designated locker area for firearms, my son has a take down recurve so no one cared if he had that in his dorm room.
