I just twisted a string for this bow (b-50 dacron ) I took her outside and shot her. It shoots sweet but makes a terrible ta wang sound. It’s brace is at 8 1/4 and the nock is 3/8. shoots fine just a funny sound. I shoot a long bow so maybe I’m just not used to a curve . I think the limbs are just talking??? Any help

Recurves can make some noise with a plain string. String silencers might help. I have a Hoyt that makes a funny noise when I shoot aluminum but no sound with woodies. Arrow weight can have a role in bow noise. Messing around with the brace height might help too.

How many strands is your string? I would recommend silencers, for sure, as that could be a big part of it. Play with your brace height. I don’t remember offhand, but I think mine on my K-mag is pushing 8 3/4″ or something like that. I shoot Dacron on mine, but I buy my strings pre-made. Good luck.

The brace hieght on my current production SuperK is 8-1/4″, it’s a dacron comercial string. I have Cat Whiskers 14″ from the tip of the bow, & it’s pretty quiet. I do shoot wood split hex arrows that wieght 650 grains.
I think if you will play with the brace hieght, & silencers you will get it. It won’t ever be as quiet as a self bow or longbow though. Quiet enough, but not as quiet!
