Some people write in a journal and I’ve tried that. My journals are now a different kind. I always have a camera close at hand to record what I see as I travel and then I make a video of the trip or event. This gives others a chance to see what I have seen. I go hunting to get away from the daily grind and find some solitude so that I can clear my mind. These are my walks in the woods.
This is my journal of our Hog hunt in west Texas three weeks ago. A journal that I not only wanted to make but one I had to make. The motley looking group in the picture are family and we also have a common tie beyond that. Each of us holds or has held a top level government security clearance. That is something I am very proud of. From the left is yours truly, and my cousins Jim, Jack, Scott, and Bob.
We didn’t bag any game on this trip but nobody cared. Just being there is what mattered most.
Here is my walk in the woods.

Nice Job 🙂 Looks like it was fine last walk.

Dennis,
Thanks for sharing. I’m sorry it was your cousin’s last walk in the woods but I’m glad you got to share it with him.

Yes, absolutely thanks for sharing. I love that rolling juniper country. Where exactly was your camp?

Dennis, bitter sweet memories to treasure.

Dennis,
Thank you for sharing your photos and videos. What part of Texas was that? Sorry about your family’s loss. It’s good that you and your cousins had the opportunity to share Jack’s last walk.

Scott’s camp is just north of Aspermont. That was the first trip I had made there and plan on returning many more times. It is a harsh land that is ruggedly beautiful and the pictures don’t do it justice.
My cousin calls this 200 acres of scrub heaven on earth. If heaven is this hot in the summer I don’t want to see hell.
