Well archery season starts on the 25th and I am as ready as I am going to be. Sharp things are sharp, strings are stretched, and setup is tuned. Been practicing all summer and will cram even more practice in before the opener, especially with broadheads (although they seem to fly the same as field tips anyway).
Haven’t been able to do much scouting as my hunting grounds are almost three hours away. But I am fairly familiar with the the land and family has told me the Deer are doing this year the same as they did last year. As a bonus a few new resident critters in the forms of an eight point Elk and young Black Bear have moved into the area. The wife will have the Elk tag (mine is for antlerless only) so the Blackie will be all mine (she don’t like the taste of Bear anyhow).
Purchased all my tags today. As much as it hurt to shell out that much cash, I just have to remember that once filled they could account for as much as 800 pounds of meat. Doesn’t sound like such a bad deal when a person thinks of it like that.
Anyhow I will go back to sharpening things that are already sharp, and lying awake through sleepless nights. After all there is just ten more days and counting… -
14 days for me. Feels a little surreal, since it seems like our summer just got going about a month ago. Hard to believe that elk will be bugling in a couple weeks.
Still sharpening and need to fine tune. Decided to step up a 225gr. point in order to bump my FOC to just shy of 21%.
Can’t wait…
