I’ve been shut down the last few weeks with the creeping crud and some really horrible weather…nothing like they got in New England, but down here, 10 inches of snow, 0F and high winds are a real problem…anyway, I’m glad to be back…turkey season is coming up in April, I hope it warms up a bit…BTW, I put off buying a new Glock to invest in a really good longbow…it’s 12F out there right now and sunny…tonight I have to figure out how to get my son’s Ford Taurus out of his driveway..I’m tired of taking him to work in the morning….night before last I took him home and he was walking down his driveway and he yelled at me….there’s an old man that rents from us and he was passed out in his truck with the door open….it was very cold…Ernie is diabetic and doesn’t take care of himself..we called the ambulance and the deuputies…it took four of us to get him out of the truck onto the gurney…and 5 of us to lift him up into the ambulance…the ice and snow were making it horrible.I’m surprised, he lived, he’ll be in the hospital for a few more days..we checked on him the day before this incident…be careful if the weather is a problem and check on those old folks….some are too stubborn to ask for help.

Good of you to take care of your friend. It’s cold here, and will be cold for a few days. It’s nothing like it is up north, of course, but it makes a huge difference in places where folks aren’t used to it and not prepared for it. We have a lot of developments around here that were initially designed as summer/vacation homes. The pipes are not only freezing in the houses, but also in the streets as they were not buried deep enough to withstand prolonged cold spells.
Looking forward to seeing the new bow. I do plenty of drooling on this site seeing what folks bring home. best, dwc

Critch,
I had to log in to see where you live! I almost made MO my home…or AR, but didn’t find all the “savings” touted by folks on other sites from those 2 states, so I went back to PA and regrouped.
Ended up here in TN…last winter HERE was the worst on record and this one has also been a bear. Locals trying to blame me for bringing it along…I have to remind them last winter was worse and I wasn’t here!
That is a very cool thing that happened by the inconvenience of your son’s transportation, likely saved that older gent’s life!!!! Kudos!
The locals laugh at me shoveling my driveway when it snows…with the continued forecast for cold, I’m not driving on it like they do, creating ice and then live with that till it warms up! Nah…I’ll shovel. Been doing it all my life, no reason to change if there is snow!
This last one 2 days ago was WET! That made it heavy. Good thing was that yesterday I ended my 6 weeks of restricted duty post surgery… Good thing! That snow was heavy! 🙁
You take care….winter colds can linger and linger. Best wishes for the older gent to get back on his feet too…and to find a way to get the son’s car back in service!

I’m a Memphian by birth….but I just can’t stand large cities, so I live up here in the Ozarks….BTW, Memphian means we know next to nothing about the rest of Tennessee but we can tell you all about North Mississippi and Northeast Arkansas…You’re right, Ernie was lucky that I took my son home, otherwise Travis may not have noticed him…my son’s driveway is about 100 yards long, gravel and since he lives in the flat country east of Poplar Bluff, it’s muddy…I won’t live in the flatland…

Welcome back, brother. We’ve been keeping the campfire stoked in your absence!

Glad your health has improved and y’all were able to help someone out.
Mud:evil: I hate mud. Putting hi lines back up after storms knock’em down will give one all the mud experience one ever needs.
New bow huh? Good deal. Hope you enjoy.
Cold and snowy here today so I’ve been shoveling snow rather than shooting.
Glad you’re back. Glad you’re better.
