Well… to make a long story short, I am eating humble pie tonight! Missed an 8 pointer over his scrape early this morning. The infamous tree branch got in the way. I am really happy that this buck was no worse for the experience, only the smarter. But, this is a really good ridge top and hoping it will still be productive this season. Anyone have any similiar experiences that later worked out anyway?

You admittedly have a good ridge, scrapes and antlers sighted. Sounds like it’s working ok to me. lol.
Misses happen but I’m glad you’ve got some action going.
I’ve not seen a DEER in over 60 hours in several stands in 16 days.
Talk about frustrated. I’ve never had such a horrendous season in my life.It can’t help but improve! 🙄
Stick him next time, Stevo!
Good luck

I think the “running time” is just beginning though!
Indeed it is that~~~!
and here I sit at 2:30 AM woke by a driver with a flat needing help (staying warm till someone called showed up). Up for the day (well, maybe most of it 😀 ) now. Sleeping with a 5 month old Beagle/Mutt mix pup and clanking going on outside is ….well, NOT! 😀 Dewey the Wonder Mutt is not only protective, he is quite vocal.
Wet and warm..till now here. 33 degrees this AM. Snow / rain mix called for for Wed. Too much corn up……way too much. It’s going to be an interesting season and maybe a VERY good late one!!
I think I’m saving up my “luck” for a big one…finally…maybe…kinda…hopefully.
You got a shot at that big boy from the ground? Yehaaaaa. Don’t ya love it?? 😀
God Bless

Don’t you just love the sound of hounds singing, good luck to both of you.

I have some humble pie for you guys, but you will have to wait and see for yourselves what happened, I have to edit the video first, but I will say that I came back from one heck of a great 5 day of fall turkey and archery season!!! Best of luck to you guys!

Well… This past Friday & Saturday it had gotten really cold. And the bucks were running, and busy freshening scrapes. “My” buck came back, he was so intent on freshening his scrape, I don’t think he would have cared if I was standing right over it! It wasn’t the same scrape as before, this one was 40 yards away. He came in to about 30 yards, and I was ready for a shot, but he never gave me an angle or opportunity for a shot. I was happy to watch him and see him back. There is still time.
