I was just finishing up a backyard practicw session ,had shot my last arrow and was just turning around after swtting my bow on the tailgate when I noticed something standing directly behind my block target .turned out to be a young Buck muley. after staring at each other for a few seconds he wandered down towards the creek and dissapeared behind the old manure pile .figuering he had carried on to cross the creek in the usuall spot I wondered over ,pulled my arrows then decided to have a peek around the corner of the shaving shed that serves as my archery backdrop . the little guy was 15 feet away and mosying back my way. so I backed up and sat down on the shavings pile . Shure enough next thing he pokes his head around the corner and walks right in ! Stood ther for a moment then suddenly his legs went stiff ,he spun around and bounced off down the slope . Sorry kind of long winded story but it was pretty comical .

That’s a great story. I have to ask, what’s a shaving shed? thanks! dwc

Ha Ha .I never thought about that . its just a small barn that that we store wood shavings from the local sawmill in . we use them for bedding in the horse stalls . so after hunkering down in that stuff i later realised my cloths were full of the stuff!

For sure. When I read that I thought, “now there’s a man takes his shaving seriously.”

We have a cat, not ‘our’cat, drives the spaniels nuts as it walks along the fence.
Then there was the world’s most discoordinated pigeon I honestly saw it fall out of a tree and get stuck down the side of the greenhouse, rescued it from there so it thought it would set up home. It had no idea about nest building there was just a pile of sticks under the tree. The dogs just laid and watched it waddling around the garden.
Mark.

The creek behind the house was flooding this spring and because of a logjam we had about 4 feet of water running through the cottonwoods below the house . Upside was the mallards that moved in and proceeded to hatch a batch of chick’s . We had many enjoyable mornings drinking our coffee and watching the duck antics .the “creek ” has since dried up .guess ducks have moved out to the main creek . Recently have seen a bald eagle crusing back and forth looking for a meal

We normally have lots of Blackies Roming around but we’ve had lots of winter kill the last couple of years . I think some sort of virus that gets them in their dens . Did see a nice sow and 3 cubs about a month ago

Since we have had a few hot nights, we have had the fan on. Unfortunately Momma Skunk likes to prowl near the bedroom window just about the time we bed down. When the smell comes in, we have to shut the fan down, close the window, and suffer. Lying there in bed thinking “Has she left yet?…Has she left yet?… Has she left yet?…”
