I have only been doing this for a little while now, but i find the most expensive part of all this is the arrows, considering that i bury half my shots in the grass. So i found knocks for five bucks at dicks but finding feathered fletchings is proving to be a bit tougher, i have been avoiding ording on line since i had bad expirences with similar situations. So does anyone know of a good trustworthy company i can order off of. i have found a bow doctor who makes arrows strings ect but i would rather do it my self. any advice is greatly appriciated.

Welcome aboard Jon20. Most trad mail-order house are totally reliable. My favorite for service is Dave Doran’s “Archery Past.” You can google him. Only thing is he isn’t set up to take orders online so you check the online catalog and give hima toll-free call … he’s great about answering any questions you may have while you have his attention. And there’s always 3Rivers and Kustom King, big operations but first rate. And more. Most of us, given the scarcity of trad shops, must rely on mail order. Best luck, and be sure to use bright feathers so you can find those arrows in the grass. Dave

I have to pipe in here to say I’ve had excellent luck with 3 Rivers and Kustom King. Brave Heart, also. I’m just in my third year of this trad bow stuff. I order everything online and have not been disappointed. 3Rivers has a great aspect in that they post reviews to get other archers perspectives. Good luck and enjoy! dwc

I really enjoy making my own fletching from wild turkey wings. Most turkey hunters here in northeast Michigan are willing to let me have the wings. It is a great winter project to split, grind, and dye them. Remember that there are only 4 to 7 feathers on a wing that are suitable for fletching. Therefore you need several wings to make up a seasons worth of arrows. I agree it is a lot of work but it is still better than watching reality shows on TV.

Besides what has already been mentioned, Mike Horton at The Nocking Point is another first class supplier. http://www.thenockingpoint.com They usually ship by the next day. Look at the web site and email or call with what you need.
                  Great people.

I’d have to say True Flight from 3Rivers. Usually get them in three days. Never had a problem with True Flight fletchings.
                    Good luck & shoot straight,
                    Kevin
