        Bow season…..argh. Worst I’ve ever had.

        ONE single doe in range, facing me? R U KIDDING? I’d a never a “thunk it”. Cry

        You all connecting? I missed my “annual one time chance” at a “bigun”. 19 inch inside spread, 9 point, dressed 195…….I know cause a wheelie shooting buddy whacked him 200 yards away the next day……*grumble grumble* Laughing Happy day for ol Mikey!! That happens. (more to me than I want to share lol).

        I got the only, single, dinky, tiny stinking branch between him and me at…..wait for it……SEVEN YARDS that pushed the shot low. Sigh.

        45 mph wind gusts the only day I had to hunt for “gun” opening weekend and while I connected, I should have taken my bow. Too worried about what that kind of wind does to arrow flight. Been there done that with less then great results. Not a good thing ever let alone with 4 others out there in the same woods. My apologies to the forerunners of our addiction but….still a wise choice that I would do again out of respect for the animals. I dont need help with “bad luck’ and don’t push the odds a bit.

        I just didnt think he would go by at like four paces!!!! crapola I think my stand MIGHT? be in the right spot? or maybe TOO CLOSE? lol He was literally one or two steps closer than the one I missed with a bow a week earlier…..same trail….just branch was GONE now LOL.

        So……no photos of either since not trad but it was a happy birthday anyway. Only two bucks down on my birthday ever and still hoping for one with a bow if I can find a place to hunt then without hoards of whanging and banging nearby. I had orange hats……75 yards from me…….no joke. UGH

        ON a good note, I bought myself a happy bday present. One in our line of interest.

        A 1959 for my 59th bday. “BAD FORM” to switch bows midstream but I JUST GOTTA DO IT.

        Have faith Doc and Joe………the FAT LADY HATH NOT SANG JUST YET. I have till early January to get those single bevel Tuffheads into gear. Ten I CAN take with a bow……I’ll give it a go but so far….?? …….so bad a season for bow shots.

          More importantly for those of us of trad inclinations……..Nov 13 was another trad guys birthday as well…..and worth a special note in rememberance.

            Nice looking wood in that bow! I’m also without a shot for the early archery season. Ended up hunting mostly mid-day on the days I could get out. Saw very few deer while in the woods, but lots of deer when I was not hunting. My buddy who hunts in the same woods tagged three. He’s fine hunter with his hickory selfbow and gets to spend a lot of time in the woods.
            I’ll be carrying dad’s 270 in the opening of rifle season looking for a freezer filler, then back to the bow. Good luck to you, dwcphoto
