My wife’s uncle bought an old bow at a garage sale for me. Someone had painted the WHOLE bow matte black and drilled 2 sight/quiver holes in it. After a little elbow grease and rubbing compound I was able to get the black paint off to find a very nice 50# Bear Kodiak Hunter. I refinished the bow and put in some brass mountings where the holes were and am quit satisfied with the results. Total investment so far, $10 for a can of polyurethane. (I already had the brass mounting kit for a different bow.):D

Nice job – not scratching off the bow poundage and id info when taking off the old finish!

              JTop,

That’s one heck of a recovery job.

Great job. Glad to see you had the courage to do it. Too many super nice bows are never unvailed because of someone elses mistake.

Nice! I like surprises like that. I’d like to find one about 45# left hand.

Great bows and a good find!

I’ve got one just like it, same weight but without inserts, that I used to shoot in an indoor league. Nice and stable; if a bit slow by reputation. I draw 30-1/2″ and when you work the tips that way it begins to get perky.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I put a string on it and got to shoot with my 6.5 yr old daughter on Saturday. We were competing to see who got more bullseyes. In the end we tied. Its a nice shooter, but about 5 lbs more than I’m used to. I’ll get the hang of it.
