I just put a GN side mount quiver on my velocity riser. The quiver is not parallel with the bow but rather angles out on the gripper end.Is this the way they are designed?

It’s the quiver. What is the advantage of angled back? Just curious.

I may have misunderstood what you were saying. Angled back would mean the gripper is closer to the string than the hood is. Angled out would mean the gripper is further away from the riser than the hood.
Out allows clearance for the feathers from the limb and allows easier access to remove the arrows from the inside of the gripper.
Back to me places the arrow slightly closer to the shooter. The arrow nocks are aligned toward the bow tip rather than being in front of the limb. This is the setup I learned to shoot with from the early 1960s using the Bear bow quivers.

I prefer a quiver that has the fletched end of the arrow angled back towards me. I helps to keep the arrows out of the brush I’m hiding behind.
I’ve improvised all of my quivers to works like that.
My Great Northern quivers are old but I turned the bottom bracket 180 (very carefully and a little at a time when I was twisting the metal), it mounts inside the bow instead of the outside, so the arrows angle back towards me.
I think they offer one now that’s built kinda on that order. Dunno for sure.
