              very nice work, I really want to make my own td curve, cant affort to right now, college is expensive!!! Great work though!

                  What adhesive did you use to glue the pieces together? So far, I have only made self bows of red oak, with risers glued on using Titebond III. Hope to have a bandsaw by springtime, and start a walnut/maple or hickory/maple longbow, with some deflex in the limbs. Thank you for the pictures and inspiration!

                      I used Smooth On EA 40 on these pieces. However if I was not using osage and instead used something like IPE then I would certainly go with Nelson’s URAC 185. I think Smooth ON EA 40 tends to stick better to the oily woods like Osage.

                      This particular bow had no requirement for a band saw. The belt sander was much more useful.

                          Well I finally got around to it this morning.

                          It launches the arrows like intercontinental ballistic missiles. A tiny bit of hand shock on the shot but nothing more than some professionally crafted bows which I have shot.

                          I’d say it’s a success. I put it on my friends’ scale and it came out to exactly 67 lbs @ 28 inches.

                            That’s a good weight to have I personally would not want to go any heavier but sounds as though it suits you well. Might a heavier arrow soak up some of that energy and reduce hand shock?

                              I don’t see the hand shock as an issue. It’s not very significant and some people might not notice it as much as I did. It was more of a critical remark than it was a functional problem.

                                    just a question about your work of art, why suck the low brace height? I am sure there is a good reason, just never shot with a low brace like that myself?

                                      It was with a low brace height in the photo because the string was incomplete. In fact the string in the photo did not even have serving material yet.
