Many years(30’ish)ago I started shooting with just bare fingers, gloves would wear-out, favorite model no longer made, etc., it just seemed better to by-pass the glove altogether and not have that worry. I don’t wear an arm guard either, when we made bundle bows as kids from saplings and bailing twine my forearm would be black and blue, and I learned to turn my elbow out to beat the sting.

I don’t have any problems with sore fingers shooting 100plus arrows, or hitting my forearm, even with layers of clothing…

A tourny archer once said about my form ” I don’t know how you do it, but nice group son”, (My golf swing is ugly also, but I was a 5handicap hitting just irons, no woods in my bag hehe)

Does anyone else shoot with bare fingers???

I don’t use an arm guard except when wearing my bulky hunting clothes.

Bare fingered? I will admit I’m not tough enough for more than a couple shots bare fingered, after that I need something to protect my sensitive digits. 🙂

I have done it when bucky caught me without my tab or glove on, but for practice? Not that tough I guess.

I don’t wear an armguard except with loose sleeves. Then I wear the top of an old wool sock…

I try to shoot a few shots a week bare fingered, in the event that I forget or lose a glove I can confidently manage the one accurate (or one inaccurate and one accurate) shot that I might need. I like the idea of shooting only bare and toyed with it once, but punted it after a month or two. I expect that with a little more dedication it would be fine. Gloves are a relatively new thing in the archery world, mainly for we modern softies.

I did notice when I was bare fingering that, until I got sore at least, it did tighten up my group a good bit. Nothing wrong with that.

I too shoot bare finger if it’s not too cold here in CO. Or with a work glove. What ever is available. Never know what you’ll have to work with.

I have tried every glove made, not archery gloves but ones to help keep my hands warm, feel is such an important dealy for me to shoot good, and even a thin glove on my bow hand throws me off. I’ll use those little hand warmers in my sleaves so I can stick my fingers in there to keep warm… I buy them by the case hehehe… Yes, it does get coooold here in Az.
