I finally got around to trying out the sharpening system on 3-blade broadheads, as describede by Al Kidner in the Oct-Nov isssue of TBM.

The method described uses a bench grinder to provide a hollow grind to all three blades, and the final honing done on a flat diamond stone.

The method I used was exactly as he described in his article, and the result was the sharpest broadhead I have ever attempted to sharpen ❗

I would describe the whole process as relatively easy except for the initial grinding process, which may take a little practise. The rest of the process is virtually foolproof.

If anyone is having trouble getting broadheads sharp this method is certainly something to consider.

        Thanks Al

          Bruce:

I’ve always thought that someone should invent a device to hold the blade rigidly against the grinder at the proper angle.

Such a device would be most valuable!

I use a bench grinder to sharpen my 2 bladed single bevel broadheads. They are fast and easy and get the blades crazy sharp.

I know it ain’t “traditional” but it is smart. I’d rather spend my traditional time doing something else, like getting upity on this forum 😆

Steve is there any special technique you use when using the grinder on 2 blades. Do you use a jig? A certain wheel grit?
