This is a follow-up to my post about Hunor Broadheads. Original post is at: https://www.tradbow.com/members/cfmbb/messages.cfm?threadid=2C736874-1422-1DE9-ED8943C987E9F349 . Like I said, I need no other proof that I evolved from a fish as you simply wave something shiny in my face and I bite (buy).

I paid $45 (PayPal only, but you don’t need an account) and ordered the Hunor Africa in 125 gr. I got them in the mail. I have Simmons Sharks 2-blade and X-50 (something like that) 2-blade in 175 gr and 125 gr respectively to compare to.

First, the bad. Shipping was a LONG time. These things come from Hungary. I happened to order them right when there was a national Hungarian holiday of some sorts and the entire country was closed. At least that’s the impression I got when my email was returned. It took a little over a month to get the broadheads. I understand international shipping, etc, but it seemed a bit long.

Now the good. The broadheads seem sturdy. They come well polished and very sharp. I used one out of the three to practice. I’ve hit quite a few things, even some targets, and it held up. No, it is not razor sharp any more, but sturdy. Next, someone compared these to the German Kinetics (or I believe Alaska Grizzly Sticks???). I agree that they look very similar, but the GK and A-GS start around $90. These are ½ the price and shipping is included. I have not seen/owned/used the GK or A-GS, so other than price, it is not fair for me to compare them. For the ones I do own/use, these are much sharper. Mine need shapening and re-sharpening, and I still cannot get them as sharp. I also wind up bending them. They straighten, but never to “new” form. The Hunor heads don’t bend (but they do chip). The Hunor broadheads come in weight from 100gr up to 200gr. They also have a broadhead called a Neo. It looks cool, but I think I will stick to this design. you can see them both at: http://www.hunorarchery.com . (I do not work for, endorse or get paid by Hunor, simply giving an opinion here.)

Picture is below. I’d be happy to answer any questions, but I am, for now, limited to the broadhead range. I am going Hog hunting at the end of the month, so I hope to have a “real-life” testimonial to give. In the mean time, I rate these as a 4-4.5 out of 5. I would definitely get more. As a matter of fact, when Gregg is close to finishing what he has called my “gorilla bow”, I will get some 200gr heads and make some stiffer arrows for my new “wife” (I named my bows after my family, and the wife has the honor of the second JavaMan ‘American’ which is in progress).

        Hope this helps. Be well.

        Alex

I like the broadhead leather case they sell. I made one that holds 6 broadheads, but theirs is nicer looking.

There is a place that’s new that just started up in Texas call the Broadheadbarn.com I ask him about the Africa Hunor 175 heads and he checked it out, and became a sponsor.

but due to a sudden demand they are running behind. he is awaiting his shipment also from the company. but we will be able to get them locally when Charlie gets his supply in.

Tell him Greywolf told ya about him.

            Aloha

              Wolf,

Thanks for the update. I know these heads are not the 3:1 eFOC that many here swear by. I have gotten into tweaking more with the FOC stuff and have very positive results. These were one of those “largemouth bass” purchases. I saw something flashy and I bit. I must say though, they are not far behind the Concords I have. And, they come factory sharp as heck (sharper than I have been able to get my Concords 😕 ) Thanks again for the update. Be well.

They certainly look like a good broadhead. The profile reminds me of the new heads from Eclipse. I’m not sure I’d leave the back of the blades sharp though. Knowing me, I’d end up blood trailing myself back to camp.

                      LOL 😆 😆 😆

Already did that pulling it out of a styrofoam target at the broadhead range. Felt like an idiot. At least my jeans are more stylish now! Be well.
