Well I’m not a dyed in the wool shed hunter but I’ve found a few incidentally. Heres one that turned up in my yard right after Christmas. I had seen two buck with antlers a few days before. Then I saw one with no antlers and bloody spots where they used to be. Never seen them shed in December before.

Great Find!!! I have seen antlers shed in oct in NY, they actually came off as the deer was being draged out… And once saw an 8pointer still sporting his antlers on 1April, also in NY, on way to opening day trout river…
I spend alot of time shed-hunting/scouting in AZ, a good excuse to get out into new country…

We went to Yellowstone last year for a family get together. We rented a couple cabins back up some unpaved road. One afternoon when things were getting boring (for the young ‘uns) I suggested to my nephew that he might find some elk antlers if he would walk around that field over there by the creek. So off he went and I paid no more attention to him.
An hour later I went out on the porch to find him smiling bigly amongst a pile of elk/deer antlers.
It is curious that finding an antler here in the east is such a rare thing. I have found some over the years, but they are few and far between.
Nice one Duncan!

We’ve had some December sheds here in southeast Georgia this season. I’ve never seen them shed this early either. Nice find.
