I was out on my range behind the house this evening for some practice. I sent a few field points down range and then thumped the target with a rubber blunt. Immediately I heard movement in the woods behind me, about 35-40 yards distant. It was followed by two snorts of the sort that are usually maddening to bowhunters, but this time I found them amusing.
So, what have you folks bumped during the off season with bow in hand and non-lethal points in your quiver?

More than once I’ve gone out to shoot and had deer pass by the target. Stop. Give me those doe eyes, and walk slowly away. It’s happened with field points, and broadheads.
No angst on my part. Wasn’t in the killer mode. The doe’s know it somehow. I think guys, hunter or otherwise, are not as subtle as we think we are.
We’re always turning to a sixth sense to explain their uncanny ability to ferret us and our intentions out. I think maybe the deer, and the gals, are just way smarter than we are.

My spouse frequently expresses both sentiments. 🙂

Yup!!!
I sometimes have turkeys “turkeying” around and now and then I find some tail feathers they leave me. I think those bird brains have a sixth sense also. 7th sense come season.
