I have been thinking about trying these for the upcoming seasons. You know, the Asby studies and more supposed penetration etc. I am wondering, what works for you?
        Thanks in advance,
        Nick

This is gonna sound pretty simple Nick, but to me it isn’t that much different than sharpening a regular double bevel, except that I’m only gonna file the burr up on one side. I take the burr off by laying the flat side of the head lightly on the flat on the file and push into the edge. When I’ve worked it to a fine edge or burr, I strop it off like a regular head. I’ll likely have an ElGrande in my quiver this fall; maybe I’ll get a chance to use it.

Thanks Fletcher. Lord knows I have sharpened a thousand two bladed heads in the last 30 yrs. I guess I was looking for what to do on the side opposite the factory grind. If what I am hearing is correct I don’t want to take much or any steel off the flat side –just file the burr off ?

I use a regular 0 cut bastard file and sharpen from the edge keeping the same degree of bevel. Roll it over and knock the burr off. I then clean it up on a diamond stone by pulling the edge to me, then pull it on a hard Arkansas, strop on leather one way.:)
