        Wow! The area between Galena IL and Dubuque, IA has seen 12-14 inches of rain in the last 2 days. Most have water in their basements, even those who live on hills. The Mississippi River at Dubuque rose 5 feet in 24 hours. If you have ever been to Dubuque, you would know what that means. The river is pretty wide there, so that is a lot of water.

        The weather seems to be getting more and more extreme. Heat, floods, big snows, etc. Texas and OK are boiling, others are flooded, CO still has snow in the high country due to a big snow pack. Somethings up. Kind of scary.

          Send a little of it my way. My area of south central Colorado has been dry, dry, dry all summer and winter. Creeks than normally run never even ran this summer. Fire danger high. On the plus side no mosquitos this year.

              He’s a link to the local paper, the Dubuque Telegraph Herald. They are saying some areas received that much rain in a 12 hour period. I am sure the humans as well as the animals were hunkering down during that series of storms. Amazing, truly amazing.

                WIcanner — not at all to make small of your drowning situation there, but we are so desperate for rain here in SW CO, and all my lesser efforts such as washing the truck, hanging out laundry, etc,. having failed — I made the ultimate sacrifice today and took a long scouting hike into the mountains purposely without rain gear and in just a think shirt and jeans. I’m a firm believer in Murphy’s law and by golly I fooled him again! Started raining as soon as I got a fair distance from the rig and rained hard the whole time I was out there, with strong wind and some soft hail, and now, back at home dry and warm. It’s still raining. I really don’t know what sort of things a feller might do to get it to quit raining, but I hope your basement doesn’t flood. I don’t have one. Dave

                  Actually, I live about 100 miles NE of Dubuque, yet during the same time period as their heavy rains, we received very little. That is what makes this years weather so extreme. Somebody gets swamped, while another nothing but wind and dust. This has been going on all summer.

                  Dave, glad to hear you finally received some rain. Sounds like you have stumbled upon a good system. I wouldn’t try that in the fall however, instead of lots of rain you might get lots of snow. 😮
