The Oklahoma Selfbow Society is hosting the 8th annual OJAM on March 22-25 at the Rutter farm southeast of Stillwater, Ok., near Perkins.

If you have ever had a desire to learn the how-to’s of building a selfbow, a composite bow, cane arrows, flintknap, or just shoot your trad equipment this is the event to attend. What started as a gathering of about 50 people has now grown to be the biggest event of its kind in the midwest.

Here is a timeline of the past seven years to give you an idea of what goes on.

I hope to see you there.

Dennis — When does spring turkey open in OK? After this event, I presume?

Woo-hoo! I’m SO glad to find out about this event! Since I’ve become a toxophilite I’ve not found much going on in OK for us traditional guys. In fact, this year is the first annual “trashy trad shoot” at trosper archery club in OKC. It looks like fun too. (March 3rd & 4th, trosperarchery.com for those interested) I’m definitely going to hafta see if I can get some time off for OJAM though! Thanks you SO much for the post!

Aero, just wanted to say thanks again for this post. My daughter & I had a fantastic time at o-jam! Met some cool people, learned a few things I needed to know & spent way too much (not enough?) money. And best of all, before we even left my daughter asked, “can we go again next year? ” Awesome!

Even with all the rain I never heard anybody complain. I think the rain also dampened the turnout this year too. We were expecting anywhere between 800 to 1000 people this year. I’ll be posting a bunch of pictures in the near future.

Wish I could have met up with you.

We didn’t come the first day partly because of the rain, partly because of Obama being in cushing that day (I figured it would probably make it tough to pass through town). We had to be ferry-ed to our campsite because my Jeep isn’t 4WD.

But we all had a great time. My girlfriend & her 2 girls only got to stay 1 night & left right after the kids got their bows. I will be better prepared next year & will probably join up so I can build a bow! Would have liked to have met you too. I’m sure ya saw us around. I was the fat guy with a Indiana Jones style hat and 1-4 girls walking around with me.:D

I’m also curious if any other tradbow members were there?
