Indeed, to our way of thinking, it is very sad…but who is to say that their quality of life doesn’t/didn’t surpass what lies in civilization?

Seems as though the son looks to escape his confines and return to the jungle, even without his father.

Amen to those sentiments!!!

They didn’t coin the phrase, “War is hell” for no reason! Many of our returning soldiers from that damn war carry similar burdens of “mental & emotional anguish” to this day.

And then returned to be spat upon and called every ugly name under the sun.

Thank God for the simple flight of the arrow to bring us peace and joy in a complex and often cruel world.

The father had an understandable reaction. All of his family killed save one. Take the one child and run. What would you do?

So now he has deserted to save his only child. Would you go back? They would have certainly killed him and possibly the boy too. Now the child knows only the jungle. I think they should let him go back if he wants to. Maybe someone could go with him and help him in small ways by providing tools, seed, utensils, etc and let him build his own world. Let him have his freedom.

The one child saved, had a younger infant brother. I guess the Dad knew he couldn’t handle an infant in the jungle.

In that part of the world, our social conscience approach likely has no merit or meaning.

It would be interesting to follow this story, but I suspect it will get lost in the shuffle.
