Bought one new for $120.00 from Sportsmanguide. Didn’t like it from the start. Stacked draw, lots of hand shock. PSE customer service left a lot to be desired also. Just my opinion. I sold the bow for quite a loss. In case the person I sold the bow to is reading this post, I really did sell the bow for the reasons mentioned in the sale post, but, I never liked it much anyway. If I get to shoot again someday, I think I’ll stick with nice light smooth recurve.

Skinner — I think the problem isn’t that it was a longbow, but that it was a factory bow, IMHO. I’ll spend my money on a used custom bow, long or recurve, any time before spending the same or less on a factory bow. In the old days when I couldn’t afford anything else and there weren’t many customs around, I had factory recurves and every one stacked, was noisy and just disappointing. Again, in my experience and IMHO.

Does that go for the Bear Montana as well?

I can’t speak for PSE’s longbows, but I had a PSE Stalker recurve as a starter bow. The bow shot well for me, but about a month after getting it, I had to send the riser back, as the wood was beginng to separate. A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine had been shooting it and I noticed a spot in the center of the lower limb where the fiberglass had separated, so back to the bow shop again. The manager said that with all the bows they’ve had blow up in the past few months, he was getting tired of dealing with PSE trad bows and swapped me across the board for a Sammick Sage that is a remarkable shooter for the price. Sorry I couldn’t give more info on their longbows, but I’m over PSE for good.
