Just ran across a magazine add touting an airgun that shoots arrows. 450 fps and 2″ groups at 60 yards. They call it an AirBOW. AAAaaaggghhh!!!!

I really hate how everyone wants to do it easier! No one wants to work for it anymore. I also hate how they call things like this and crossbows archery! They are not! Next thing you know, they will allow air bows to be used during archery season!
Onterio, I see you are from North Bay Area? I was just over the border in Quebec in 2014 hunting black bear. I will be returning to hunt moose fall 2016.8)

Bow Envy?
Envy and education. Folks don’t know there’s another choice. They are bombarded with advertising and exposed to no alternative.
I think the traditional societies are somewhat to blame. It’s expensive to advertise, but if there was an advertisement in every hook and bullet magazine from PBA or Comptons or a cooperative ad between them all, they might see another choice.
Yet another reason TBM is so important. Just having it sit on the shelf at the 7-11 might put the seed in somebody’s head if they glance at it…

Wojo,
Good luck with your moose hunt in Quebec! I hunted there several years ago with friends and we had a bunch of luck. They had some land to hunt on the border with Maine and a cabin that was used only during the maple syrup season. It was a great experience.
And the meat is pretty darn good too!
Let us know how it goes…

Steve,
Good points. I don’t buy many magazines anymore, but I’ll look over the rack if I’m waiting for someone. I’m always pleasantly surprised to see Trad Bow on a shelf. I thought about making it a gift to the local library, but to see if it gets any interest. All the best, dwc

Good idea David!
I know when I was younger and spent a lot of time in the library, I would comb through the magazines as they opened up the world to my young and inexperienced mind. I discovered all kinds of interesting things about life in those magazines 😯 8) 😳 🙄

Don’t tell me you were looking at National Geographic, too? I used to stop in the library on the way home from school and look through the fishing books mainly. Found out that the creek I grew up on was once a famous fly fishing stream, mentioned in books right along with some of the other famous rivers. Neat stuff. best, dwc

I was “thinking about” buying a trad bow, then I read a few issues of Traditional Bowhunter from my local library and got convinced to take the plunge pretty quick.
I was drawn to the weapon, but what really sealed the deal for me how different the attitudes towards hunting were from all the horn porn mags.
Since I don’t shop much, and I couldn’t tell you the last time I walked past a magazine rack, I don’t know I would have found the magazine otherwise, so if your library doesn’t have it, that would certainly be a worthy gift.

Anyone who couldn’t see this coming just hasn’t been paying attention for the last 15 years. I predicted this would be the next “archery” weapon several years ago on another forum and I got chastised for being divisive and selfish.
I wonder how long it will be until this new weapon will be included in “bow” season to accommodate those who cannot cock a cross gun. The law will morph from there to allow ALL “bow” hunters to use it. That’s exactly how the cross gun got legalized.
I also wonder what new “advancement” to “archery” equipment will be next. And rest assured, there WILL be a “next, best thing”
There is no longer such a thing as bow season…only hunting seasons that also allow bows to be used, and the definition of what a “bow” is, has been perverted to the point that makes me sick to my stomach.:(

Good point8)
I too feel the same way. Once they legalized crossbows in PA it screwed up archery. But they keep bitching about no deer when rifle season comes around.
I have no respect for people that kill an animal in archery with a crossbow in archery season. NONE. JMHO:x

Call me an old timer but I’ll stick with my trusty bow over any of those new contraptions!
